TRIBUTE TO WANDA ADKINS

It was with great sadness that the members of Local Union 1307 mourned the passing of our newly elected President, Wanda Adkins, on March 10, 2007.

Wanda was hired at Delmarva Power on March 31, 1969. During her career she worked in Stores Accounting, Mail Clerk, Plant Accounting, Stores, Purchasing, Fleet Services, Customer Engineering and Distribution Engineering.

In 1976, she was elected to serve on the Union's Executive Board, and mid-term, elected by the Board to fill the vacancy of Recording Secretary, winning re-election to that office each year, until her election as President in 2006.

She served as a Shop Steward and Disciplinary Steward for most of her career, attending all Shop Steward training seminars.

Served as secretary on the Local's Safety Committee, and additionally as secretary for the Joint Union/Management Safety Committee. 

She was active as Chairman/Secretary of the 1307 Grievance Committee, and honorably served as a delegate to the IBEW International Convention in 1986.

Helped initiate and served on the committee to establish Delmarva's original EAP program.

Was a delegate to the Delmarva Peninsula Central Labor Council.

She was a participant in all contract negotiations with Delmarva since 1977.

Also, participated in pre-negotiations with the Local's committees for contracts with Choptank and A&N, serving on the negotiating committee with A&N in 2006.

Was involved in various grievances and pre-arbitration settlements with Delmarva and Choptank.

Represented L.U. 1307 on Delmarva's 2006 United Way Campaign.

At the time of her death, was serving on Delmarva's Union/Management Health Care Committee, along with L.U. 1238.
